Farm 51

Day 18: Farm 51 by Maverick Studios. A cluster-pays slot where powers keep doubling multipliers all over the grid, and you’ll see x500 and x1000 flying around every 10 spins. We never hit a win on one, though. We triggered 3 regular bonuses and 2 Super Bonuses in the first 500 spins, with a best win of x117, then the rest of the session was dead and we closed at a loss. Very volatile, but fun. 1000 Spins Approved? YES

Day 18 - Farm 51 - Slot Review

Day 18, I picked a game from another studio under Engine.io. Farm 51 by Maverick Studios. The studio was in top 10 list of Engine.io by wagers so I had to give it a try.

It's 7x7 grid slot with cluster mechanics and max win potential is up to 51051x. RTP is 96.7%.

The whole game is built around multipliers sitting underneath the symbols. Every position starts with no multiplier, and every time a position explodes, whether from a winning cluster, a Classic Power or a Clear Board, it gets a x2 or doubles, all the way up to x4096. Symbols fall, the grid refills, and the cascade keeps going. The multipliers stay on their positions while the symbols drop, but they reset every base spin. In Free Spins they stay for the whole round.

To work out a cluster win, you add up the multipliers under every symbol in the cluster and multiply the normal win by that sum. For example, a 2x cluster sitting on x4 and x8 positions pays 2 x (4 + 8) = 24x the bet.

The Powers are where it gets wild:

Classic Power: When a cluster or another power destroys it, it wipes out every symbol of its type from the grid.

Rainbow Power: When it's destroyed, it hits the 3x3 area around its symbol with x512, x1024, x2048 or x4096 multipliers. Higher values stay and it stops at the grid edges. It can chain into other powers.

Clear Board: When no winning cluster is left, it clears all the paying symbols and restarts the cascades. Scatters stay, and Rainbow Powers activate, but Classic Powers don't.

There’s a catch with the powers. They can clear symbols that would have formed a winning cluster, so there’s no payout for that cluster, and all they do is double the multipliers yet there's no guarantee you'll have another cluster hitting those multis in the next spin. That’s why you often see huge multipliers on the grid, but hitting a win on one of them is very unlikely.

In the first 500 spins, we triggered the regular bonus 3 times and the Super Bonus twice, but unfortunately didn’t hit anything bigger than x117.

We used up all the bonus juice in those first 500 spins. The rest of the session was pretty much dead spins, so we gave back the profit we’d made and closed the session at a loss.

The music, the attention to small details and the artwork are top notch, and both the base game and the bonus rounds have huge multiplier potential. But the game teases you quite a bit. Almost every 10 spins you see x500 and x1000 multipliers flying around the grid, yet we didn’t hit a single win on one of them, so get ready: this game is very volatile. Showing those multipliers on the grid is the studio’s way of keeping you on the hook and making the base game exciting.

Is it 1000 Spins Approved? YES. We lost, but it was a fun game.
