Lazy Vampire

Day 29: Lazy Vampire by Paperclip Gaming. A cat Dracula slot with sticky Vampire Wild multipliers that add up and a 50,000x max win. I lost the session, but 6 bonus rounds in 1000 spins and one of them hitting 200x, showed the game’s potential. APPROVED!

Day 29 - Lazy Vampire - Slot Review

On day 29, I took on Lazy Vampire from Paperclip Gaming, a slot where the main character is a cat Dracula. It’s a 6x5 grid game with 19 paylines, a 96.70% RTP and a 50,000x max win potential, released recently. This is the 5th game in Paperclip’s Lazy series, after Lazy Night, Lazy Viking, Lazy Pirate and Lazy Thief. The mechanics are different in each one, but the theming has a similar feel to what Hacksaw does with its Le series.

Wins pay on 19 lines from left to right. The regular Wild substitutes for every symbol except the Bonus, and a payline made entirely of Wilds pays its own Wild line win.

The star of the game is the Vampire Wild. It covers a whole reel and substitutes for everything except the Bonus symbol, and each one carries a multiplier of x2, x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8, x9, x10, x15, x20, x25, x50, x100, x250 or x1000. The multipliers add up instead of multiplying: a winning line is multiplied by the sum of the multipliers of every Vampire Wild reel inside the combination, and a line that crosses no Vampire Wild pays at x1. In the base game, Vampire Wilds can land on up to two reels and only apply to that spin.

The free spins are triggered by the Bonus symbol. Landing 3 triggers the Bonus, 4 triggers Super and 5 triggers Epic. All three give you 10 free spins, and in all of them the Vampire Wilds are sticky and keep their multiplier for the rest of the feature. Every Bonus symbol that lands during the free spins fills the blood meter by 1. Every 3 collected gives you 3 extra free spins and raises a new Vampire Wild on a random reel that doesn’t have one yet, up to all 6 reels. What separates the three versions is the head start. The blood meter starts at 0 in the Bonus, at 3 in Super with one Vampire Wild already risen, and at 6 in Epic with two Vampire Wilds already risen.

You can also pay for a better shot at the bonus. Extra Chance costs 3x your bet and increases the chance of triggering a bonus. Super Chance costs 6x and makes Super or Epic more likely. Epic Chance costs 20x and triggers only the Epic free spins, far more often. Crimson Eclipse is a single enhanced spin with three guaranteed Vampire Wild reels, each with a multiplier of x10 or more, plus extra Wilds, though Bonus symbols don’t land on that spin. Mystery picks for you: at Normal volatility it gives no feature 50% of the time, Super 44% of the time and Epic 6% of the time.

There are also volatility settings, and you can pick the level on the buy screen: Very Low, Low, Normal, High and Extreme. Every level pays back the same 96.70%, but higher levels win less often and pay bigger when they do. I played on Normal, where a base spin wins about 1 in 5.1 times, any bonus comes around once every 218 spins and the max win is about 1 in 4 million.

The plan for winning is to get the bonus and hope the Vampire Wild multipliers stack up on the same winning lines. The more Bonus symbols land during the free spins, the more Vampire Wilds rise, and a few big multipliers on the same line pay far more than lots of small wins.

My session ended in a loss, but the bonus hit rate was great for Normal volatility. I triggered the 3 scatter Bonus 4 times and the 4 scatter Super 2 times in 1000 spins. Total 6, which is more than the 1 in 218 they mentioned on info page. Couldn't manage to hit any crazy multipliers but there's been a 200x win in one of the 4 scatter bonuses. There wasn't a decent base game hits today yet the bonuses covered for it. I'll play the other Lazy games during coming sessions. 1000 Spins APPROVED!
