Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead

Day 23 was Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead by Play’n GO, a 5x5 cluster take on the Book of Dead legend. Almost 20 bonuses, a best win of 185x and a profitable session, but over a long session the game turns repetitive and is missing a few layers. NOT APPROVED.

Day 23 - Rich Wilde and the Tome of Madness - Slot Review

On day 23, I stayed in the Rich Wilde universe after yesterday’s Book of Dead and took on Rich Wilde and the Tome of Dead by Play’n GO, released in 2025. It’s a fresh take on the legend that swaps the paylines and the expanding symbol for a cascading grid.

It’s a 5x5 grid cluster game with a 5,000x max multiplier potential.

Wins come from clusters of 4 or more matching symbols. The winning symbols disappear and new ones cascade in, so one spin can chain several wins in a row. The wilds are what make it interesting, because there are three types and one of them is the Multiplier Wild.

Whenever it’s part of a win, it multiplies the payout by up to 5x in the base game and up to 10x in the bonus, and if several land in the same cluster, only the highest value counts.

Then there’s the All-Seeing Eye, which can show up on the grid as a closed frame. If a winning cluster covers it, it opens and summons 2 to 4 wilds onto the reels.

The other big feature is the Ritual of Banishment, which Rich is running to stop Ammit and which charges with every win.

At 8 charges it adds 2 to 4 wilds. At 16 it adds more wilds and their energy destroys symbols in a pattern across the grid, and at 30 it adds wilds and turns all the low paying symbols into their high paying versions.

So the whole game is about chaining wins, because every cascade charges the ritual and every ritual level makes the next win bigger. The more wins you chain before the bonus round, the bigger the multiplier potential you carry into it.

During the session I got into the bonus round almost 20 times, so the hit rate is very generous, but the payouts aren’t crazy to balance it out. My biggest win of the session was 185x.

The base game and the bonus are both decent, but with a hit rate this high the game is missing a few extra layers of play to keep it from feeling repetitive. After a while it gets a little boring, with the same sound effects and animations over and over. It was a profitable session, but for a game released just last year it’s unfortunately not quite my tempo, and sadly, NOT APPROVED.
