Wild Afterlife
On Day 11, we tried Wild Afterlife by Ghost Studios, one of the newest studios under Engine.io RGS. The game mechanic is fun but the gameplay itself feels like a beta of something really nice. We hit a x207 win in Spirit Realm bonus, but the design and build details need work. Unfortunately, NOT APPROVED. A V2 might change that.

Day 11 - Wild Afterlife - Slot Review
On Day 11, we gave one of the newest studios under Engine.io RGS a try: Wild Afterlife by Ghost Studios. It's their first game, released yesterday. It's a 5x4 Halloween-themed slot with x25,000 max multiplier potential.
As the name suggests, what we're chasing here are the Wilds. They're Ghost symbols with multipliers attached, and they substitute for all paying symbols. When multiple Wilds link together for a payout, their multipliers are summed. When two neighbouring Wilds meet, they fuse into a single Wild whose multiplier is the sum of the two. Hit 3 or more paylines in the same spin and you get the Lightning Strike, which doubles the multiplier on one random Wild. There's also a Giant Wild, but we didn't see it in our 1,000 spins.
It's a fun mechanic, but the game currently feels like the beta version of a really nice game, with not much attention paid to the small details.
First, there's a lot going on in the design of the high and low paying symbols, and they look quite similar to each other, which makes the game hard to follow. A simpler design for the low paying symbols might fix the problem here.
In the bonus round, the first spin starts before you get to see the full grid, so you feel like you missed it. The bonus round overall also feels very fast, so some fine-tuning might be needed.
In the base game with Turbo spins on, it doesn't ask whether you want to start the bonus round in Turbo. It just launches it that way, which kills the fun of the bonus if you forgot Turbo was active.
The Bonus Buy and Feature Bet button next to the menu should be highlighted better. It took me a while to figure out where it was.
The game has 3 bonus rounds: Spirit Realm (3 Scatters), Haunted Beyond (4 Scatters) and The Forbidden Afterlife (5 Scatters). We triggered Spirit Realm 3 times, and in one of them we hit a x207 win, the highlight of our session.
Overall, it was a fun game with real potential, but it feels like it was released a bit too early. Unfortunately, NOT APPROVED. A V2 with these improvements could make it a really enjoyable game.
